Medical Surgical Float

Role

• Med Surg RN
• Float pool position
• Based in Med Surg Staffing Office

Schedule

• Day shift, 4x12 hours
• 48 hours per week
• Must work 2 of 3 holiday bundles
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekends on and 3 weekends off for the 6-week schedule, depending on schedule balance
• New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
• Overtime after 48 hours applies to contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Mexico
• Float experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• BLS issued by Health & Safety Institute or American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License
• Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management
• Blood Product Administration
• Central line blood draw
• PICC line management
• Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Non-invasive airway management

• Floats to med surg units
• Floats to med surg boarders in other departments in the hospital

• 60 staffed beds

• First-timers accepted
• No block schedule
• 7-day local radius rule is not used; locals are not accepted within 100 miles
• Physical exam required within 1 year prior to start
• Negative TB or chest X-ray required within 1 year of start
• Tdap vaccine required
• Flu documentation or exemption required
• Drug screen required within 30 days of start
• 2 professional references within 3 years of hire
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually
