Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – CVPICU
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) or Pediatric ICU (Peds ICU)
- 12-hour shifts, variable days and nights
- Ability to float to other facilities within the system
- Schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off
Required Qualifications
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Pediatric CVICU OR 5 years Pediatric ICU experience (whichever is higher)
- Current and valid Driver’s License or government photo ID matching professional license
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, nationwide and specialty checks as required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
- Two negative TB tests (one within 1 year, one within 3 months) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
- Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination (seasonal requirement)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption; booster 2 required for all travelers
- Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
- Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication competency exams required on first day
- Unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams with passing score of 80% or higher
- Two supervisory references from most recent or second most recent employment
- Updated resume with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience in Pediatric ICU (PICU) and Neonatal ICU (NICU)
Additional Information
- Must complete required learning modules through the facility’s Learning Management System before starting work on the floor
- Background checks and license verifications must be current within 30 days of start
- Annual cybersecurity and HIPAA training required
- COVID-19 religious or medical exemptions require advance approval (2 weeks prior to start)
- Physical and health documentation must be submitted in advance to allow for facility review
- Pass/Fail Telemetry exam required for all RNs working in critical care and telemetry units
- Fit testing for masks may be completed onsite only as a last resort
- Ability to work variable shifts and float to other units as needed
