Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU (Pulmonary/GI)

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Schedule: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
Charting System: Epic experience required
Call Off Policy: Allowed 1 shift call off per 2 weeks
Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
Floating: Required to float within skillset
Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics in a PCU/stepdown unit with primary Pulmonary/GI focus
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
Unit Details: No ventilators on unit; may work without CNA support
Accepts: First-time travelers and local candidates within radius rule
Pending License: Accepted only if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state; otherwise, active Virginia State or Compact RN license required

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Experience in Direct Observation Unit (DOU), Intermediate Care, or Stepdown settings
Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIHSS certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations
Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
Experience with medication administration including cardiac drips
Experience using Epic electronic charting system

Required Documentation & Compliance

I-9 or attestation
Driver’s License/State ID (must meet radius requirements)
E-Verify or attestation
7-year background check (within 1 year of start)
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (within 30 days of start and updated for renewals)
Transcript or diploma verifying highest earned degree
Education verification
Physical exam within 1 year, free from communicable diseases
Fit test within 1 year, updated annually
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
Drug screen (10 panel) within 30 days of start
Required immunizations or positive titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
Flu vaccination or declination form during flu season
