Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (PCU)

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Work Setting

  • Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Diagnoses include CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Ratio/Census: 1:4-5; 36 rooms with average daily census of 35
  • Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Schedule & Requirements

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • RTO Blackout Dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: Expected to work 1-2 major holidays if they fall during assignment
    • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
  • Experience working with adult and geriatric patients

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Georgia

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (required by Aya)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • Immunizations:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended (not required)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Flu Vaccine or Declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)

Additional Notes

  • Full compliance with all requirements is necessary to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
  • Orientation hours are non-billable and vary based on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours orientation)
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
