Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech – OB/GYN (Travel/Contract)

Location: Auburn, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 5×8 hour day shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week


Job Description

  • Perform ultrasound exams in Obstetrics, High-Risk OB, and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) settings.
  • Portable ultrasound exams as needed.
  • Work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity OB environment.
  • Floating within scope depending on facility needs (no floating to sister facilities).
  • Weekend work as needed (rare).
  • On-call 1–2 nights per week (limited call).
  • Local candidates accepted.
  • One holiday off may be requested; facility will try to accommodate.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1+ years of recent OB/GYN ultrasound experience.
  • First-time travelers accepted only if highly experienced in OB/GYN and high-risk settings.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • ARDMS (OB/GYN) certification required.
  • BLS (AHA) required.
  • Additional certifications relevant to OB ultrasound may be required (e.g., NRP, EFM) depending on facility/unit.
  • State license verification required prior to start (NYS license applicable).

Required OB/GYN Skills & Procedures

  • First, Second, and Third Trimester exams.
  • Fetal Anatomical Surveys.
  • Fetal Echocardiography.
  • Multiple gestation pregnancies.
  • Umbilical cord Doppler studies.
  • Amniocentesis (assist and/or perform within scope).

Equipment Experience

  • GE, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite ultrasound machines.
  • PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).

Additional Requirements

  • Background checks including SSN trace, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG prior to start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, signed by licensed provider.
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, Flu vaccine (or declination), COVID vaccine (or declination).
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start.
  • Professional references and skills checklist required.
  • Facility-specific documents and acknowledgements must be reviewed and signed.
  • Competency exams and pass/fail testing may be required depending on specialty.

Prior Travel Experience

  • Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted if highly experienced.
