Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Telemetry unit (D1 TELE)
  • Nurse must be able to read cardiac rhythms and pass a hospital proctored test with:
    • 80% accuracy in rhythm identification

    • 100% accuracy in identifying critical rhythms
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • At least 1 year current experience with telemetry patient population
  • Critical drip and CVA experience is a plus
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required
  • Patient ratio: 1:4-5
  • Local rule: Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from Saratoga (specific counties excluded)

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • New York RN License (must have in hand)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • NIH Stroke Certification (assigned if not on file)
  • Successful completion of advanced EKG/ECG testing with a minimum passing score (90% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms) within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Pass/Fail testing on medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement)

Skills & Competencies

  • Telemetry experience required
  • Ability to identify cardiac rhythms accurately
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blindness test preferred
  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and competency modules

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date (onsite physical required before start)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 1 year) or chest X-ray if prior positive PPD
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5, 2024
  • 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (specific lab requirements)
  • Fit test for N95 mask (quantitative test only accepted)
  • Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test

Additional Information

  • Housing is expensive in the fall; housing resources available upon request
  • Facility requires a passport-style photo for badge
  • Lift assessment (usually 25 lbs, sometimes 10 lbs depending on position) required

Hospitalist providers are condescending and getting them to respond to needs and assess pts being held in ED is difficult.
