Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- ICU RN for primary trauma and stroke unit
- Night shifts every other week (EOW)
- Float as needed
- Holidays as needed
- Patient ratio: 2:1 or 1:1
- Must have Epic experience
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years recent critical care experience with acute/chronically ill patients
- Experience in Trauma and Neuro ICU
- Preferred: Charge RN experience, Neuro ICU experience
- Active Florida or Compact nursing license
- ACLS & BLS certifications via AHA required
- NIH Stroke Certification required (must have at time of application)
- Degree from an accredited school or approved institution by FBON
- If degree is not accredited, must have 2 years recent acute care experience (consecutive within past 24 months in a US hospital)
- Must meet local radius rule (within 60 miles considered local)
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, Blue Cloud, or equivalent)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (verify with program management if unclear)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background check within 6 months including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks including all aliases
- Education accreditation confirmation and verification required
- Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting required prior to start, must be updated every 5 years
- Physical exam within 6 months of start, updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Annual TB questionnaire and QuantiFERON lab test within 6 months (no TSPOT or PPD accepted)
- Immunizations: MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccines, titers, or declinations accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination preferred (for 2025-2026 season)
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all nursing professions except Case Managers)
- Annual skills checklist
- Color Blind Testing (updated annually, minimum 80% score)
- Completion of facility-specific online orientation and training modules including but not limited to:
- Privacy Policy
- AHCA Affidavit and Demographic Information Sheet
- Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace
- Clinical/Online Orientation Module
- Annual Risk Management Course
- General Compliance & Ethics Training
- Code of Conduct
- Emergency Management Education
- Preventing & Reporting Workplace Harassment
- Infection control and safety modules (e.g., ERAS BSI CLABSI, Handling Hazardous Drugs, ICU Medical procedures)
- Specialty nursing modules (e.g., Stroke Core Measures, IV Medication Safety, End of Life Care)
- PPE Donning and Doffing for COVID-19
- Additional modules for OR nurses, dialysis, and other specialty areas as applicable
Additional Notes
- Must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Badge photo required (passport-style, white background, no hats or sunglasses)
- Two professional references required within the last 2 years
- Local candidates within 60 miles considered for local rate
This position requires a highly skilled ICU RN with critical care experience in trauma and neuro units, appropriate certifications, and compliance with extensive background and health documentation. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
