  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Float: May be floated to other ICUs (e.g., Neuro ICU) if needed

Job Description Highlights

  • Upon starting, you may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay onsite during emergency events or be part of relief teams.
  • Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as directed by unit management.
  • Float assignments limited to other ICU units only.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience.
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required).

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted; renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted; renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Required; must be updated annually. Can be completed onsite during orientation week.
  • Preferred: NIHSS certification
  • Epic experience required.

Required Licenses

  • Active Louisiana RN license or Compact RN license required upon submission.
  • License must be current or in the process of renewal if expiring within 30 days of start.

Additional Requirements

  • Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy).
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and Education Verification as applicable.
  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months.
    • Tdap vaccine (required for select units).
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity verification.
    • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination.
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season.
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, recent, plain background).
  • Skills checklist and competency exam specific to specialty, updated annually.
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
  • COVID-19 medical or religious exemption forms if applicable.

Important Notes

  • Must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness and response as assigned.
  • Float assignments limited to ICU units only.
  • CPI certification can be completed onsite during orientation if not current.
  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position.

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced critical care environment and are open to emergency event assignments.
