Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Certifications Preferred:

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, criminal, federal, education verification, and international checks if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education Verification: ADN or BSN required; diploma/transcripts acceptable if verification unavailable
• Licensure: Must have valid RN license; no pending licenses accepted
• Fingerprinting: Required only if position does not require Illinois state license; must be completed in Illinois
• References: 2 references required
• Employment History: Verification of last 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained
• Skills Checklist: Required annually for assigned and float units
• Physical Exam: Within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year of start (specific 3M masks accepted)
• Immunizations & Health Documents: Must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB)
  • TB Questionnaire (if applicable)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start
• Flu Vaccination: Required for flu season (10/1 to 3/31); religious or medical exemptions require facility approval; declinations not accepted
• Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with plain background, forward facing, no headgear
• Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start (approx. 2 hours)

Additional Notes

• COVID-19 and Influenza vaccine religious and medical exemption forms are available but require facility approval and must be submitted at least one week prior to documentation due date.
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and credentialing requirements.
