Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (ICU) - Georgia, Stockbridge

Job Summary

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience (ICU)
• 1st time travelers accepted
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Work Environment & Responsibilities

• Unit: ICU with 24 rooms, average daily census of 19
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3 (may take a 3rd patient)
• Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Scheduling: Block scheduling not guaranteed; weekends every other weekend
• Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• Systems used: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (check unit-specific requirements)

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Georgia

Clinical Skills & Diagnoses Commonly Encountered

• ARDS, Sepsis, Stroke, STEMI, DKA, Post-op complications
• Cardiogenic shock, Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), COPD exacerbation
• Encephalopathy, Liver failure, Drug overdose, ESRD on CRRT

Orientation & Compliance

• Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
• Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final approval

Additional Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start (including education verification)
• Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable
• Annual NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU nurses (3 attempts allowed)
• Color blind testing required
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Work history verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
• References: 2 clinical references required

Immunization & Health Requirements

• Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
• Hepatitis B: Surface antibody titer or signed declination required
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Highly recommended but not required for clearance
