Job Details

• Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off
• Float Requirement: Yes, within the department
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• Call Requirement: No
• Unit: Blood Bank (tasks include irradiation, splitting blood products, plasma reduction on plateletpheresis)
• Scrubs: Any color

Required Qualifications

• License: Louisiana state license for Medical Lab Scientist
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Laboratory)
• Certifications: ASCP preferred
• Epic experience preferred

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit requirement for prior travel experience

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• I9 and E-Verify compliance
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes comprehensive panel)
• Immunizations and health requirements including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (recent testing required)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by facility but required by placement agency)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
• General competency exams (updated annually)
• Other certifications and competencies as applicable to unit and role

Additional Notes

• License must be in hand before start
• This position floats within the department
• No call required, but weekend work is expected
