Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Pediatrics)
Location: Helena, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1+ year of behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience with pediatric patients
- Experience in milieu management
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
- Shift: Nights
- Work schedule includes every other weekend
- Charting system: Epic
- Patient population: Children and adolescents, primarily with suicidal ideations, ADHD, and spectrum disorders
- Facility operates 24/7, 82-bed children's hospital
Certifications & Licenses
- CPR: BLS and First Aid certification required for licensed staff (RNs and CNAs). First Aid must be in-person; virtual-only courses are not accepted.
- ACLS: Required based on unit description (AHA or ARC)
- BLS: Required for licensed staff (AHA or ARC)
- PALS: Required based on unit description (AHA or ARC)
- State Nursing License: Primary source verification required prior to start and upon expiration
- NURSYS Verification: Required prior to start
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Preferred; facility will provide training if candidate does not have it
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency Exam relevant to profession/specialty
Required Documents & Health Screenings
- Valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Background checks including SS Trace, County searches (last 7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG prior to start
- Physical exam within the last 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year for TB test; chest X-ray within 5 years if positive PPD)
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually if past positive)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1-3/31)
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years
- Skills checklist required
Additional Information
- All staff must complete online facility-specific training modules (~8-12 hours) prior to orientation
- Locals accepted at travel rate
