Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Valdosta, Georgia
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Position Details

• Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
• Shift: 12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:00)
• Weekend Shifts: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics
• Float Requirements: ICU, CPU; float to PCU and rarely to Med Surg/Telemetry (max 4 patients)
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:3-4 in cardiac progressive (stepdown) area
• Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac diagnoses including cardiothoracic surgical patients (travelers do not take fresh open heart patients)
• Medication System: Omnicell
• Documentation System: EPIC

Experience & Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (CCU)
• Required Years of Experience: 2 years
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (1st timers okay)
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • CCRN (Preferred)
• Clinical Skills Checklist (must have 3s or 4s to pass):

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Continuous IV sedation (Preferred)
  • Procedural sedation administration (Preferred)

Work Hours & Scheduling

• Shift Options: 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts with incremental hours allowed per 2-week period
• Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 36-48 hours per week depending on shift pattern

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID
• Social Security Card
• Background Check (including SSN Trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search) within 30 days of start
• Official Transcript or Diploma copy
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (renewed yearly)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or documentation if previously positive)
• Immunizations:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (Positive titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (Positive titer, completed series, or signed declination)
  • Varicella (Positive titer or 2 vaccines)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including Marijuana/THC)
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required prior to start during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (facility-specific forms required)

Orientation & Testing

• Pass/Fail Exams at orientation (two attempts allowed):

  • Medication Exam (required for all RNs including Case Managers)
  • EKG Exam (required for ICU, MS, Tele, ER, L&D, Stepdown, Hemodialysis)
  • Critical Care Exam (BKAT) (required for ICU units except NICU, Tele, Stepdown)
• EPIC testing on day 1
• Competency check-offs and dysrhythmia guide testing required
• Mask fit testing completed at orientation

• Scrub colors assigned by unit (CCU: Ceil Blue)
• Photo for badge required (passport style, white background, no selfies)
• 2 professional references required
• Employment application required
• Fingerprinting through Georgia GCHEXS system required only for CNAs and Recreational Therapists, not for RNs

This position is suitable for nurses with at least 2 years of CCU experience who are comfortable working in a cardiac ICU environment with a variety of cardiac patients and stepdown care. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
