Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (1st Time Travelers Not Accepted)
- Shift Details:
- Weekend shifts: Half of scheduled shifts
- Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
Skills & Competencies Required
- MS/Telemetry preferred
- PCU/IMC/Stepdown required
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Telemetry unit monitoring
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Post cardiac angiogram, post MI care
- Pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care
- IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- Feeding tube care and management
- Hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Accessing ports, blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, PICC line management
- Starting IVs, Heparin protocols
- Management of cardiac drips (no titration)
- Care for CVA, surgical drains
- HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI as applicable
Documentation & Compliance
- Experience with EPIC documentation system required
- Dark Grey/Pewter scrub color required
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and fingerprinting (if applicable)
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Additional Notes
- Local travelers from specified counties are not accepted
- Must complete skills checklist annually
- Complete application and work history verification required
- References are not required for clearance but may be requested internally
This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses with prior travel assignments who are skilled in telemetry and cardiac care in a fast-paced hospital setting.
