Job Opportunity: Inpatient Occupational Therapist (OT) - Travel/Contract

Job Description

Provide inpatient occupational therapy services.
Minimum 2 years of inpatient experience required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and valid State License required.
Locals allowed at the same rate as travelers.

Contract Length

13 weeks

Required Certifications & Licenses

Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
State License (permanent, no temporary licenses accepted)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), NIH Stroke Certification as applicable by unit
National certifications for tech roles if applicable (e.g., CST, ARRT)
HIPAA Acknowledgement required prior to start

Experience & Education

Minimum 2 years inpatient experience in occupational therapy.
Degree or certification from an accredited program as stipulated for allied health positions.
Education verification or proof of diploma required.

Background & Screening Requirements

Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including:
- All states lived/worked in past 7 years
- State of permanent residence
- VA Statewide Repository Search
- Nationwide and FACIS Level 3 checks
- Sex Offender Registry
- Education verification
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
Fingerprinting (Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check) required for certain units and candidates; results may pend but proof of submission must be on file.
Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search and documentation required for candidates working in pediatrics, NICU, psych, and certain facilities.

Health & Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands.
Medical fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (N95 or PAPR required).
Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (declination accepted with handwritten signature).
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
Annual TB questionnaire.
Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccination with boosters if low titers.
Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted.
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually (no declinations accepted without exemption).
Drug screening within 30-60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant screens not accepted).
Latex questionnaire prior to start.

Competency & Skills Verification

Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
Color blindness testing required.
Abuse reporting competency covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect/exploitation of vulnerable adults.
Skills checklist updated annually.

Orientation & Facility Specifics

Orientation includes exams/tests such as pharmacology, point of care testing, mask fitting, and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) for certain nursing roles.
Completion of assigned learning modules during orientation week (~6 hours).
Candidates must bring a photo for badge meeting specific photo requirements (neutral background, no hats, clear eyes, etc.).
Confidentiality agreement required prior to start.
