Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York

Job Requirements

• Valid New York RN License
• Minimum 2 years acute hospital nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Must be willing to float to other units as needed based on skillset and manager discretion
• No local candidates allowed within a 50-mile radius or from specified counties (including Saratoga, Albany, Rensselaer, and others)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - preferably AHA or Red Cross
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Red Cross preferred; AHA only required for Labor & Delivery
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
• NIH Stroke Certification required for certain units (ICU, ER, PCU, Cath Lab, Med/Surg Tele, Urgent Care, Emergency Care)
• Successful completion of advanced EKG/ECG testing within 72 hours of contract signing (90% passing score required, 100% on lethal rhythms) with up to 3 attempts allowed
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color Blind Testing preferred
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for all RNs and LPNs)

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start; onsite physical required with specific medical history form
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; 2-step PPD required with specific timing or Quantiferon Gold acceptable (T-spot not accepted)
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
• 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (specific lab requirements apply)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5, 2024; mask required if exempt
• Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test required prior to start
• COVID-19 vaccinations are preferred but not mandated

Background & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Standard background checks including 7-year search, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG (updated annually)
• State-specific registry checks for Behavioral Health travelers
• Facility-specific documents including lift assessment, FCRA authorization, ECG study guide, OSHA N95 questionnaire, PPD questionnaire, and HealthStream orientation modules
• References:

  • 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care
  • 1 professional reference for per diem non-acute care

Additional Notes

• Travelers must complete virtual orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start date
• Facility requires strict adherence to testing and certification deadlines
• Floating to other units may be required based on skillset and manager discretion
