Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
• Must have Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), STABLE, and Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) certifications prior to start
• Experience with high-risk Labor & Delivery patients is required
• Shift: 36 hours per week, 3 shifts of 12 hours (06:30 AM - 07:00 PM)
• Call requirement: 36 hours in 6 weeks or 12 hours per pay period; must be on premises within 45 minutes of call
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Float within skillset (Mom/Baby, postpartum, etc.) required
• Locals within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate (note for recruiters, not included here)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience (high-risk experience required)
• First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Certifications Required

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) (AWHONN certification preferred as placeholder if C-EFM not yet completed, but must register for C-EFM course)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA or ARC)
• AWHONN certification preferred
• Other certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., PALS, TNCC)

Skills & Preferences

• Circulate, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), preceptor and/or charge nurse experience
• Triage experience preferred

Work History & References

• Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, licenses, and contact information
• Work history verification required for at least 2 years of the past 7 years
• For travel contracts, at least one prior travel assignment or one month of per diem experience is preferred but not mandatory for this role

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification for highest degree required by position
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
• E-Verify and I9 documentation required
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start and monthly thereafter
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year, updated annually)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, passing score 80% or higher
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for specific units (not typically L&D but may be relevant if float includes critical care areas)
• Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required

Additional Job Requirements

• Call and float responsibilities within skillset
• Must be able to respond to call within 45 minutes on premises
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
