Job Overview
- Travel/contract RN position in Kansas City, Missouri
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- 13-week contract
- 36 hours per week
- Unit ratio is 1:5, with rare flex to 1:6
- Fast-paced 24-bed intermediate unit serving intermediate medical and surgery overflow patients
- Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
- Charge RN assignments may be required
- Holiday shifts may be required
- Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- First-time travelers are not accepted
- Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- No on-call requirement
- No block schedule accommodation
- RTO limit: no more than 7 days
- Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks if regular shifts are canceled
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Telemetry experience
Unit Skills and Experience
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Telemetry monitoring
- Rapid response support
- IV insulin protocols
- Feeding tube care and management
- Continuous bladder irrigation
- Ports, blood products, central lines, peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and starting IVs
- Heparin protocols and PCA
- CVA care
- Oxygen delivery support, including nasal cannula, face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care and wound vac management

- Insulin drip titration
- Renal failure
- Ortho trauma and total joint replacements
- Surgical drains
- Tracheostomy management
- Eye surgeries
