ICU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Kansas City, Missouri
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates accepted
  • Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
  • On-call not required
  • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
  • Requested time off: no more than 7 days
  • Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Pre/Post Cath Lab experience

Clinical Experience and Skills

  • Medical ICU and Surgical ICU
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • CVP monitoring
  • Epicardial pacing wire care and management
  • Pre/post cardiac cath or intervention
  • Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
  • Sheath removal
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Acute kidney injury and chronic/acute renal failure
  • Intake/output monitoring
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management
  • Shunts/fistula care
  • Urine output assessment
  • Port access/management
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line and PICC line care/management
  • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Emergency medications
  • Procedural sedation administration/monitoring
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • CVA/acute stroke management
  • BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Ventilated patient care
  • Fresh tracheostomy care
  • High-flow nasal cannula
  • ABG interpretation
  • Pulmonary edema and respiratory failure
  • Suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Ventilator management
  • ACT, fibrinogen, INR, PT/PTT
  • Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE
  • High-output drain management
  • Recognition of infection in immunosuppressed patients
