Job Details

Travel/contract role
13-week assignment
Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
36 hours per week
Float required
Every other weekend required
Call not required
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1, with possible flex to 3:1 in high census

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Neuro ICU (2 years of experience)
Neuro ICU experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Clinical Skills / Experience

Ventilator care
IV start
Neuro ICU care
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Blood product administration
Central line care and management
Continuous IV sedation
CVA / acute stroke management
External ventricular drains (EVD)
ICP monitoring
Post-neurosurgery care
Isolation precautions and PPE use
Lumbar drain experience

Unit Overview

Comprehensive stroke center
Common patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, SAH, SDH, craniotomies, carotid procedures, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis
Unit equipment includes EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun

Scheduling / Orientation

Scheduling is based on unit needs
Unit orientation is 24 hours total

Additional Notes

RTO after booking is not allowed
Navy blue and white scrubs required
