Case Manager (Registered Nurse) - Travel/Contract

Location: Escondido, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (8:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours

Job Description

• Seeking a seasoned Case Manager able to handle a full workload.
• Must have inpatient case management experience.
• No local candidates accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 2 years of case management experience, including acute hospital case management.
• Case management experience within the last year.
• At least one year of total travel nursing experience.
• Experience in an inpatient setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM).
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or experience.
• Valid driver’s license.

Certifications & Competencies (Must Have or Required)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA recognized.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for certain units (verify if applicable).
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) but are not mandatory for this role unless specified.
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% pass rate, must be completed within 12 months of start).
• Unit Specialty Competency Exam (80% pass rate, must be completed within 12 months of start).
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) with 80% or above, updated annually.
• Pass/fail arrhythmia exam may be required depending on unit.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required for some behavioral health or ER roles (not specified as mandatory here).

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including county criminal, national criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, OIG/GSA, and OFAC.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start and monthly thereafter.
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start and every 30 days during assignment.
• HIPAA Acknowledgement required.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start.
• Physical exam or statement of health within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP.
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
• TB questionnaire annually if past positive.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required annually.
• COVID vaccination preferred but not required; declination form if unvaccinated.
• Badge photo with white background required prior to start.
• Employment application and 2 professional references (within 3 years, from manager/supervisor/charge RN).
• Skills checklist updated annually.

Additional Information

• Drivers license or state ID with current address required (front and back copy).
• Online orientation and training modules assigned via LMS platform.
• Some units may require additional certifications or testing (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, EKG/Medication pass/fail testing).
• Must be able to work either 4x10 hour shifts or 5x8 hour shifts during the day.
• No prior travel experience explicitly required.
