Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract
Location: Auburn, New York
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Hours per week: 36 (option to work up to 48)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floating: Required as needed by facility
- Scheduling: No blocked scheduling
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience (within the past year)
- Competencies include:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Peripheral line care and management
- Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, oxygen tanks)
- Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid New York State Registered Nurse license (application in progress accepted if license not yet issued)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
Additional Requirements
- No requested time off (RTO) allowed after offer acceptance; any RTO must be disclosed at submittal
- Call-off limit: 3 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Must pass a telemetry assessment (minimum 80%) on first day of orientation covering cardiac rhythm interpretation; remediation provided if needed
- Background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG required prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TB test or chest x-ray (if prior positive) within 1 year
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity verification
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (during flu season)
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Professional references: 2 within last 3 years
- Skills checklist required
- Facility-specific documents to review and sign, including code of conduct, patient abuse reporting, confidentiality, orientation packet, and automated dispensing cabinet security
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
