Medical Lab Scientist - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (06:30 - 15:00)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
- Perform generalist testing independently in a hospital laboratory setting.
- Proficient in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank, and coagulation testing.
- Work schedule includes every other weekend and holidays as scheduled.
- Floating within the facility and to a nearby location may be required.
- No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Lab Scientist.
- Medical Lab Scientist experience within the last year.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings must be completed and updated as required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, updated annually.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with pediatric populations)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Negative drug screen (9-panel or 12-panel plus Fentanyl) within specified timeframes prior to start.
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start required.
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history required.
- Completion of facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, badge application, dress code review, and standards of conduct prior to start.
- Passport-style photo with solid white or beige background required for badge.
Additional Notes
- Candidates may be required to complete competency exams and other certifications as applicable.
- Floating assignments may include work at different locations within the facility system.
- Compliance with all facility-specific policies and procedures is mandatory.
This position offers an opportunity for experienced Medical Lab Scientists to work in a hospital laboratory environment with a structured day shift schedule and a defined contract length.
