Physical Therapist - Behavioral Health (Travel/Contract)

Location: San Leandro, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work with psychiatric patients and outpatient neurology, including some orthopedic cases.
  • Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours/week).
  • Float flexibility to cover outpatient and inpatient units across multiple locations.
  • Key skills: outpatient clinic experience, neurology, patient assessment, documentation, use of equipment/devices, orthopedics, post-stroke rehabilitation.
  • Preferred: experience as a charge therapist.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • No new graduates or first-time travelers allowed (first-time traveler allowed only if not a new graduate).
  • Valid state license for Physical Therapy.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (photo ID, color).
  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multiple criminal and sanction searches.
  • Education verification confirming minimum required education completed.
  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.
  • Fit mask test within 90 days of start (specific mask types required; PAPR accepted if fit test failed).
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray updated annually.
    • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive IgG titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella.
    • Positive Hepatitis B titer or proof of vaccination series or signed declination.
    • Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive IgG titer.
  • Drug testing: oral saliva drug screen within 30 days of start (rapid tests not accepted).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required by November 6; masking required through flu season regardless of vaccination status.
  • Color blind exam within 90 days of start.

Additional Requirements

  • Current resume including last 7 years of employment.
  • Employment verification for past 3 years.
  • References as per agency requirements.
  • Completion of facility-specific competencies and orientation modules on first day of work.
  • Acknowledgement of orientation safety manual.

Shift Details

  • Day shift, 5 days per week (Tuesday-Saturday), 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM).

Notes

  • Return-to-Office (RTO) details will be discussed prior to contract signing; no changes accepted after signing.
  • Flexibility to float between outpatient and inpatient units is required.
