Job Opportunity: Sterile Processing Tech (SPT)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:15)
Average Daily Tray Volume: 250 trays

• Level 1 trauma center with a high acuity patient population and fast-paced work environment

• Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required within scope

Job Description & Responsibilities

• Work primarily Friday through Sunday (3 shifts per 13 weeks guaranteed)
• No on-call requirement
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for up to 5 hours per shift
• Knowledge and skills required in:

  • Chemical agents for decontamination
  • Disinfectants
  • Use of washers/sterilizers
  • Sterilization wrapping procedures
  • Sets/trays assembly
  • Surgical specialties including Dental, Ear/Nose/Throat, General, Laparoscopic, Neurology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Robotics, Urology
• Experience with service lines in orthopedics, neurology, and cardiovascular preferred

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, including experience within the last year
• Certifications required:

  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
  • IAHCSMM or HSPA certification
• Knowledge of orthopedic, neurology, and cardiovascular service lines
• Proficiency with chemical agents for decontamination and sterilization wrapping procedures
• Experience with surgical procedures in dental, ear/nose/throat, laparoscopic, neurology, and orthopedic specialties
