Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech

Location

  • Toledo, Ohio

Employment Type

  • Travel / Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Day shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Call every fourth weekend (one day a week)
  • Holiday rotation included (holiday is a rotation of call)

Job Description

  • Role as Cath Lab Tech or Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech
  • Must have scrub experience in Cath Lab/IR procedures
  • Experience with fluoroscopy and radiation/radiology training required
  • Involvement in interventional radiology and Cath Lab procedural work

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Interventional Radiology Technologist experience
  • Experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Physical Requirements

  • Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20, including color vision when applicable
  • Ability to hear (with or without aids)
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to push, pull, roll, transfer, or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently
  • Ability to perform CPR if required

Certifications and Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only) required
  • Unit-specific competency exams required, including medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit needs (confirm with facility)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
  • Background check within one year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Fingerprinting required only for certain departments (not typically for this role)
  • Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Online Abuser Registry search required

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within one year of start (required by credentialing, not client)
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually (exceptions apply)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; annual TB questionnaire required
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series (declination allowed with form)
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer required
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; re-test required if gap >6 months between assignments
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required for clearance (declinations not accepted)
  • COVID vaccination preferred but not required

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Employment application required
  • Verification of last 3 years of employment (references acceptable)
  • Two professional references within 2 years of start
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
  • Radiation badge required for Cath Lab unit (provided by facility)
  • Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be signed prior to start, including:
    • Background authorization and disclosure
    • Affiliate access form
    • Drug-free workplace agreement
    • Standards of conduct and ethics acknowledgements
    • Agency onboarding slideshow and attestation

This position is suitable for candidates with experience in interventional radiology or cath lab technology who meet Ohio licensing and certification requirements and are comfortable with call and holiday rotations.

Pros

Helpful staff, lots to learn, bonus pay if you pick up. Training for new things ( procedures)is also done.

Cons

Training on th intermediate floor could be better. An actual list of how to do things. Floating to different units also can get annoying.
