Clinical Lab Scientist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Hayward, California
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Job Summary

• Perform clinical laboratory testing under direct supervision of Laboratory Manager and Section Leader.
• Assist in promoting quality service focused on accuracy and timely reporting of results.
• Support department manager in coordinating laboratory operations.
• Shift coverage: Primarily PM and Graveyard shifts; initial training on AM shift.
• Weekend schedule: Every other weekend.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) license in California.
• Minimum 2 years of Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) experience, including experience within the last year.
• ASCP certification.

Shift Details

• Evening shift: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM (5 days per week, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week).

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background Check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; international background check if employment gap outside US in past 7 years.
• Education verification or official transcript/diploma.
• Primary source verification of state license prior to start and upon expiration.
• National certification verification prior to start and upon expiration (as applicable).
• Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• N95 Respirator Fit Test within 1 year (for those with patient contact).
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
  • Tuberculosis screening: 2 PPDs or QGold/T-SPOT within 12 months of start; chest x-ray if positive TB test.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer.
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer and 3-dose vaccine series required; may start after first dose if no records.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer.
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within 6 months of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Sept 9 - Mar 31), deadline Nov 1.
• COVID-19 primary series and booster vaccines required; exemption form accepted.
• Employment application/resume required.

Additional Notes

• Training will be conducted on AM shift before transitioning to assigned PM or Graveyard shifts.
• This position supports a hospital clinical laboratory environment with variable shifts.
