Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: San Francisco, California
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 19:00-22:30 or 22:00-7:00)
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily on Labor and Delivery unit with postpartum care responsibilities.
- Ability to circulate during C-sections.
- Must be willing to work every other weekend.
- Ability to float to other facilities within the system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Postpartum nursing experience
- Ability to circulate during C-sections
- Previous travel nursing assignment experience
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Two supervisory references from recent employment (charge nurses acceptable).
- Current and updated resume covering last 7 years; gaps of 30+ days must be explained.
- Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually.
- Verification of 7 years work history (in-house or third-party).
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and education verification.
- Primary source verification of California RN license within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work.
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC), within 30 days of start and every 2 years thereafter.
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations accepted except medical exemptions).
- Two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-Spot) with specific timing requirements.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: IGG titers or 2 vaccines required.
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination (declination must be signed within 1 year).
- Varicella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required); annual update required.
- Pass/fail Telemetry exam and medication test on first day of orientation.
- Completion of core competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency with passing scores (80%+), valid within 1 year prior to start.
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to or on first day of orientation.
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.
Work Environment & Additional Information
- 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.
- Must be able to work every other weekend.
- Floating to other facilities within the system may be required.
- Pass/fail testing on ECG rhythms and medication knowledge required on orientation day; multiple retakes allowed.
- Candidates must submit all required Return to Office (RTO) documents at time of offer; late submissions will not be accepted.
