Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures including:
    • HIDA Scans
    • Bone Scans (3-Phase, Limited, Whole Body)
    • Lung Studies (DTPA Aerosol, Perfusion, Ventilation/Perfusion (V/Q) Scans)
    • Thyroid Studies (Cancer Surveys, I-123 Uptake, Thyroid Uptake Scans)
    • Cardiology procedures (Pharmacological Stress Testing, Thallium Stress Testing)
  • Handle radioactive materials safely, including disposal
  • Start and maintain IVs
  • Follow isolation precautions and use appropriate PPE
  • Use equipment from GE, Siemens, Philips, and Hitachi
  • Electronic documentation experience preferred (Allscripts preferred)
  • Experience in community hospitals, teaching hospitals, or trauma settings is a plus
  • On-call rotation required
  • First-time travelers are welcome

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in New York
  • Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
  • ARRT (Nuclear Medicine) certification
  • CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Contrast Injection Certification
  • Experience with radioactive material handling and disposal
  • Experience starting and maintaining IVs

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
  • Physical exam completed within 12 months, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (approved mask types specified)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity verification (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccine records or declination
  • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start
  • Required to review and sign facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct, Patient Abuse Reporting, Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement, Orientation Packet, and Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security
  • Annual Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire required and updated annually
  • 2 professional references within 3 years of hire
  • Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

  • Unit accepts first-time travelers; prior travel experience is not required
  • Electronic documentation experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • On-call rotation is part of the job responsibilities
