Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Glendale, California
Facility: Adventist Health Glendale
Job Summary
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for assigned patients following established standards and nursing process.
- Supervise and direct activities of assigned nursing staff.
- Coordinate care with other disciplines using critical thinking, professional judgment, and supervisory discretion.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Acute care facility experience preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California (required)
- CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for MS/Tele units
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) required for MS/Tele units
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), and other certifications may be required depending on unit
- NIH Stroke Certification required for MS/Tele units
- Competency exams including Medication Test/Pharmacology, Age Specific, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Conscious Sedation, and others as applicable
- Annual renewal of certain certifications and competencies required
Essential Functions
- Collect and analyze patient health data to determine diagnosis and care issues
- Develop and implement care plans to achieve patient outcomes
- Coordinate care delivery and promote a safe, healing environment
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Provide education to patients, families, and team members
- Participate in discharge planning for continuity of care
- Delegate and coordinate duties of healthcare team members

Compliance & Organizational Requirements
- All associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment, with medical and religious exemptions considered
- Participation in E-Verify required
- Background check within 30 days of start covering last 7 years of work and residence history
- Drug testing required within 30 days before start
- Physical exam required within 90 days of start
- Fit mask testing (N95 preferred) required; accommodations for PAPR use with medical or religious exemption
- TB testing (QGold/TSpot or 2PPDs) required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter
- Immunizations or documented immunity required for: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination/exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 30)
- COVID-19 vaccination series required with booster highly recommended; medical and religious exemptions considered
Facility-Specific Requirements
- RN scrubs must be navy blue; scrubs provided for L&D and OR nurses
- Completion and signing of orientation packet, confidentiality statement, code of conduct, privacy & security agreements, and other facility-specific documents prior to start
- Completion of Just In Time training and quizzes prior to start
- Passport-style color photo required for badge
- References: 2 clinical references verified within 1 year of start
- Employment application with 7-year work history required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required
Notes
- Some certifications and competencies may vary by unit; verify with facility compliance matrix if assigned to specific units
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI training may be provided onsite if required
- Facility does not provide vaccines onsite for some immunizations; candidates must have documentation prior to start
