Job Description

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with experience in pediatric and/or neonatal ICU settings. The role involves working in NICU, PICU, and CICU units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Management of respiratory therapies including:

  • Natural and artificial airway management
  • Non-invasive and invasive ventilator management (Servo I ventilators required)
  • Cardiopulmonary assessment
  • Bronchial hygiene therapies
  • Delivery of respiratory medications
  • Medical gas therapy
  • Aerosol/humidity management
  • Respiratory education (asthma, trach, pulmonary disease)
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs (no floating to sister facilities)

Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
Weekend Requirement: Yes

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with pediatric and neonate patients
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification

Facility & Work Environment

• Level 2 Trauma center
• Total staffed beds: 145
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrub color: Any color allowed

Additional Requirements & Compliance

• Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal/state screenings
• Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
• Various health documents and immunizations required, including:

  • Physical exam within 12 months
  • Fit mask test within 12 months
  • Tdap vaccine
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or positive titer (no declinations allowed)
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Drug screening (10-panel including THC) within 12 months
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required for new starts beginning 10/1/2025)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and color blindness test
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years
• Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
• State-specific registry search for Nebraska within 30 days of start

Notes

• Floating to other units within the facility may be required to meet patient care needs.
• Return to office (RTO) restrictions prefer 5 days or less; 6-10 days require contract extension.
• First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
