Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Acute Care Hospital (Travel/Contract)

Location: Dededo, Guam
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Hours: 40 hours per week


Job Description

  • Full-time position providing adult inpatient and outpatient therapy services.
  • May require working 1 Saturday per month due to high census.
  • Clinical fellows are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid SLP license.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology).
  • Prior travel experience is not specified as required.

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • BLS: Must have a current provider card (digital certificate preferred). Renewal required before start if expiring within 6 months.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP: Not required for this position (listed for other units only).
  • Facility-specific mandatory training modules must be completed by compliance deadlines (see Facility Specific Documents).
  • Onsite pass/fail testing during orientation including:
    • Drug Calculations Exam
    • Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) specific to unit
      Passing score: 80% or higher; two attempts allowed.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (facility does not require but Aya does).
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year prior to start; if past positive, negative chest X-ray within 5 years plus annual TB questionnaire.
  • Immunity or vaccination proof for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
      (Titers or 2 vaccines required; boosters required for negative/equivocal titers; declinations accepted only if born before 1957.)
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series (declinations accepted only if born before 1957).
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster required for negative/equivocal titers).
  • Seasonal flu vaccine mandatory September 1 - June 30; medical exemptions considered with facility-specific form.
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver form.
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable).

Background & Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Current U.S. Passport required (Canadian passports not accepted).
  • Background check within 1 year prior to start including:
    • 7-year criminal history
    • Nationwide and sex offender searches
    • International searches if applicable
      Employment will not be considered if background hits within 7 years.
  • Emergency contact form required prior to start.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be done annually.
  • Work history verification for the last 10 years required; attestations accepted if verification is not possible.
  • Two professional references required within 3 years of start.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Candidates should plan to arrive by Thursday before start date due to long travel times and time zone differences.
  • Completion of facility-specific training modules (approx. 8-12 hours for RNs; Allied professionals have specific modules).
  • Required facility-specific certificates must be uploaded as proof of completion.
  • Fit testing for approved masks (3M 1860/1860s, 1804/1804s, 1870+) must be current within 1 year; onsite fit testing available if needed.
  • Onsite orientation includes mandatory drug calculations and BKAT exams (pen and paper format, cannot be completed prior to start).
