Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: No floating between units or sister facilities required
- Facility Type: Free Standing Emergency Room
- Staffed Beds: 14 rooms including a Resuscitation Room
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: Free
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Approval for block scheduling can be requested but is not guaranteed
- Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Must be completed within 90 days of start
- Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification is pending
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
- References: Two clinical references required, including at least one from the same unit
- Employment Application: Must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Must be completed within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet job demands without restrictions
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; low titers require boosters
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray documentation required
- Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records or declination form must be uploaded
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety virtual questionnaire
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style color photo with solid light background, frontal view, cropped from shoulders up
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 2 hours; failure to complete results in being sent home
- First Day Instructions: Provided after clearance; includes OurDay platform login for document uploads
- Radiation Badge: Not required for ER RN position

- Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; peak months are August and September
- All required certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date; candidates must renew or schedule renewal if expiring soon
- Candidates with any background hits, arrests, charges, or convictions (excluding minor traffic violations) are not eligible for temporary licensure walk-through process
