Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Start dates available: April 21 or April 28 only.
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts (06:30 AM - 07:00 PM).
• Single set of RTO (Request Time Off) up to 7 consecutive days considered.
• Scrubs provided.
• Surgical cases include all except transplants and open heart; robotics cases included.
• High volume of orthopedic cases, especially total joint replacements.
• 24/7 in-house support from intensivists, NPs, hospitalists, and anesthesiologists.
• Additional provider support includes interpretation services, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, transportation, and unit secretary.
• Omnicell medication system and SBAR communication used.
• On-call required every third weekend.
• No first-time travelers accepted.
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles away from the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse experience, including experience within the last year.
• Certifications:

  • ACLS issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • PALS issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience with MEDITECH documentation system.
• Circulate experience required; scrub experience preferred.
• Prior travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers).
• On-call availability every third weekend.
• Must comply with all background checks and verifications within 30 days of start, including:

  • Background check with SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, and international searches if applicable.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Required health documents and immunizations including but not limited to:

  • Physical exam within last 12 months.
  • Fit mask testing (no facial hair interfering with respirator seal).
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days (with specific protocols for past positives).
  • Required immunizations or titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination by October 31.
  • COVID vaccination plus 1 booster or approved exemption.
• Must sign various facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements related to safety, confidentiality, abuse reporting, code of conduct, and employee handbook.

Important Notes

• No locals within 50 miles accepted.
• On-call every third weekend is mandatory.
• Scrub experience preferred but circulate experience is required.
• Meditech documentation experience is required.
• This position is not open to first-time travel nurses.

This role offers a high-volume, fast-paced surgical environment with strong interdisciplinary support and requires a highly experienced OR RN with prior travel experience.
