Job Opportunity: Medical Physicist
Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
Provide physics services related to the planning and delivery of therapeutic radiation treatment according to Radiation Oncologist prescriptions. Offer technical leadership and clinical set-up expertise to radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists. Perform quality assurance checks on all department equipment following regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Physicist
- Physicist experience within the last year
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Board Eligible or Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Radiation Physics
- Ability to be listed as an authorized medical physicist on the State of Georgia Radioactive Material License
- Participation in the American Board of Radiology Maintenance of Certification Program
Work Environment & Schedule
- Ratio/Census: 30 patients per LINAC
- Preferred systems: Epic, ARIA EMR, Varian LINAC experience
- Floating: Yes, within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
Required Pre-Employment & Ongoing Documentation
- Background Check (must be completed prior to start)
- Education Verification (degree related to specialty; can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Physical Exam (within 12 months of start)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Flu Vaccination or Declination (required during flu season)
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)
Additional Competencies & Requirements
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Various competency exams may be required depending on specialty and facility policies

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.

- Floating within the facility may be required as needed.
