Registered Nurse (RN) - Adult Forensics / Intensive Unit
Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in an Adult Forensics/Intensive Unit requiring comfort and high experience in this specialty.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to identify individual and group needs and interventions.
- Utilize the nursing process to provide complex nursing care.
- Provide clinical supervision of Mental Health Workers (MHWs) to ensure safe and therapeutic care delivery.
- Support patients in a Co-Occurring Disorders Inpatient Treatment Program focusing on sobriety and managing psychiatric issues such as Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, etc.
- Treatment includes medically assisted drug and alcohol withdrawal, stabilization, and education for recovery.
- Must be willing to float to other units and take charge shifts.
- First-time travelers will be considered.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required.
- Recent adult forensics experience within the last 3 months is mandatory (inpatient psychiatric experience must be recent; long-term care experience is not accepted).
- Intensive/Forensics Psych/Behavioral Health experience required. Age groups worked with must be listed on the resume.
Licenses & Certifications
- Active Vermont or Compact RN license required at time of submission.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required.
Documentation & Submission
- Resume must clearly list psychiatric experience and all age groups worked with.
- Psych skills checklist from within the last year required.
- Two supervisory references from the last 2 years of employment required.
- Driver’s license or candidate’s address must be included in submission (candidates living within 35 miles of the facility will have a rate adjustment).
- CPI training is offered onsite; confirm availability at submission.
Scheduling & Time Off
- Return to Office (RTO) blackout dates apply:
- 2/23 - 2/27
- 3/26 - 3/30
- 4/27 - 5/8
- RTO cannot exceed 7 days.
- Any scheduling requests must be included in the submission file.
Additional Information
- Holiday and call-back shifts are paid at 1.25x the base rate.
- No overtime multiplier; OT paid at base rate.
- Cancellation policy allows the facility to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13 weeks.
- Candidates must be comfortable working in a high-acuity forensic psychiatric setting.
Summary
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with recent adult forensic psychiatric experience who are comfortable working in an intensive behavioral health environment. Flexibility to float and take charge shifts is required. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
