MICU RN

Role Overview

• 20-bed MICU Medical/Surgical ICU
• Level III Trauma Center
• Floating required, mostly to Medical/Surgical units
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Day, evening, and night shifts available
• Rotating day shifts may move between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a when needed
• Night shift does not rotate

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• MICU - Medical Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• MICU - Medical Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• Ability to read telemetry strips
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of continuous work experience in one location
• Preferably MICU experience

Unit Details

• Adult ICU with Med Surg floating required
• Patient ratio: 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Med/Surg areas
• Patient population includes substance abuse/overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock
• Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours/day
