Job Opportunity: RN - Step Down Unit (PCU/Stepdown)

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on 3 South Stepdown unit
  • Patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
  • Previous PCU/Stepdown experience required
  • Schedule: 36/48 hours over two-week pay period (subject to change)
  • Orientation offered bi-weekly
  • Must reside within 100 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

  • License: Kentucky RN license or compact RN license valid for Kentucky
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (American Heart Association certified, front and back of card required if not electronic)
    • ACLS (required for all RNs except Psych and True Med/Surg units)
    • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required for RN specialties except OR and Psych)
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years nursing experience, with specific prior experience in PCU/Stepdown units
  • Other Requirements:
    • Nursys license verification within 30 days of start
    • Unit-specific exams (EKG, Telemetry) within one year prior to start
    • Proof of immunizations or positive titers for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Influenza (seasonal), Tdap
    • Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work without restrictions
    • Negative TB test or positive PPD with negative chest X-ray within last 5 years
    • Drug screen within 30 days of start (specific panel excluding marijuana/THC)
    • Background checks including criminal, employment, education, and professional references (2 references required, including 1 supervisor or charge nurse within last year)
    • Completion of ARH-specific submission packet including cover sheet, resume, skills checklist, and license/certification verification
    • Compliance with ARH Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
    • Completion of ARH core competencies and skills checklist annually
    • Assignment confirmation form must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance
