Job Opportunity: RN Telemetry I (Travel)

Job Requirements & Details

• Minimum 2+ years current Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience
• Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications
• Must hold a West Virginia or compact nursing license
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6 (may fluctuate with census or call-ins)
• Schedule: 36/48 hours per pay period (no block scheduling)
• Orientation offered bi-weekly
• Start date is flexible and based on need
• Candidate must reside within 100 miles of the facility

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (AHA card, front and back if not electronic)
• ACLS (Required for all RNs except Psych and some Med/Surg units)
• NIH Certification (Required for RN specialties except OR and Psych)
• Nursing License (WV or compact; must be current and verifiable within 30 days of start)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• COVID-19 Vaccine (Proof required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with documentation)
• Influenza Vaccine (Required Sept 1 - May 31; exemptions accepted with documentation)
• MMR (Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer prior to start)
• Hepatitis B (Proof of 3 vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
• Varicella (Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer prior to start)
• Tdap (Valid within 10 years; Td not accepted; declinations accepted)
• TB Quantiferon Test (Within 1 year prior to start)
• Positive PPD (If applicable, requires chest X-ray within last 5 years and TB questionnaire)
• Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work and free of restrictions

Background & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days prior to start including:

  • 7-year county and nationwide criminal checks
  • Social Security Number trace
  • National Sex Offender Registry
  • SAM and OIG checks
• Drug screen (excluding marijuana/THC) required annually
• Social Security trace, education and employment verifications may be required
• West Virginia APS/CPS check required for clinical staff in WV facilities
• Two professional references required (one must be a charge nurse or higher, one supervisor reference within last year)

Competency & Skills Verification

• Unit-specific skills checklist within one year prior to start
• Competency exam within one year prior to start (actual documents required, no certificates)
• EKG and Telemetry exam within one year prior to start
• Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives (annual update required)
