Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care

Location: Stevens Point, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit & Patient Population

• Med Surg Intermediate Care Unit (Telemetry)
• 12-bed ICU unit and 23-bed Med Surg unit
• Patient conditions include stable, sepsis, trauma alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury (TBI), orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, stroke
• Primary patients include those on insulin drips
• Patient ratio: 4:1

Job Responsibilities & Environment

• Float to all inpatient units as needed, with potential float locations including nearby cities
• On-call/call back possible during low census; minimum call back time is 2 hours
• Weekend and holiday shifts every other week
• Fast-paced unit requiring independent task management and timely completion
• Must be resilient, able to manage change well, and socially adaptable

Required Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin or compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Stepdown/Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• At least one prior travel contract completed (no new travelers)
• EPIC charting experience strongly preferred

• Orientation week hours may vary; guaranteed hours apply except during unit closures on holidays
• Eligible for up to 36 hours of unbillable low census hours per contract
• On-call hours count toward low census hours; call back hours are paid
• During flu season, travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action
