Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Variable days, typically 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40 hours guaranteed

Job Description

• Support surgical cases primarily in Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and Spine, including complex spine and neuro cases and totals.
• Efficiently set up operative suites, manage case carts to ensure all supplies are available, and scrub surgical cases across multiple specialties.
• Responsible for room turnovers for multiple procedures daily (average 40-60 cases per day across 21 ORs).
• May be required to float to nearby locations within a 50-mile radius.
• On-call responsibilities include 6-8 weeknight calls and 1-2 weekend calls during the contract, with a 30-minute response time to be ready in the OR. Weekend call only; no regular weekend shifts.
• Trauma Level II experience required.
• Must have own vehicle due to on-call requirements (cannot rely on rideshare services).
• Willingness to assist with downtime tasks and help train new hires is valued.
• Candidates should be resilient, adaptable to change, and possess a strong work ethic.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 4 years of experience, including experience within the last year.
• Graduation from a certified surgical technologist program or possession of a high school diploma.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST), or certification through NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients.

Additional Information

• Low census unbillable hours (up to 36 hours) may occur; travelers can be called back during these hours with call-back pay.
• Guaranteed hours per week except during holidays when the unit may be closed.
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed).
