Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Wausau, Wisconsin
• 13 weeks
• Primary location: Medical-Surgical / Medical and Pediatrics unit
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Every other weekend and every other holiday

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma level II experience highly preferred

Unit Details

• Medical and Pediatrics unit; travelers do not take pediatric patients
• Typical patient ratios:

  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:6-7

Clinical Focus

• Adults with respiratory illnesses, stroke, other neurological conditions, gastrointestinal illness, diabetic management, renal failure, urinary tract disorders, sepsis, wound care, clotting disorders, other infectious disease processes, and acute alcohol withdrawal

Additional Notes

• Low census may reduce hours in 4-hour increments; this is not considered on call
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccination must wear a mask at all times
