Registered Nurse – ICU

Location: Marion, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (48 hours upon request)
Start Date: ASAP

Unit Information

• 18 beds total, mix of ICU and step-down level care
• Patient Ratios: ICU 2:1, Step-down 3:1
• Charge nurse takes patients
• Unit has a strong core staff group
• Increased patient volume requires traveler support
• Scrubs color: Navy Blue

Job Requirements & Responsibilities

• Float to step-down level care if needed
• Weekend/Holiday rotation: every other weekend and every other holiday
• No on-call or call-back required
• Must have strong neuro assessment skills including NIHSS and dysphagia screening
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation (exam on first day)
• Manage ETT/ventilator with respiratory therapist support
• Initiate and titrate sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, vasoactive agents, insulin, etc.
• Follow sepsis protocols and post-ROSC therapeutic hypothermia protocol
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills essential
• Hard worker, resilient, adaptable to change, and social

Preferred Skills

• tPA administration and assessments
• Experience with massive transfusion protocols

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Experience

• ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment

• No local candidates within 40-mile radius

• Guaranteed hours may not apply during orientation week or holidays when unit is closed
