Step Down Unit Registered Nurse

Role

Travel Registered Nurse for the Step Down Unit.

Location

• Newburgh, Indiana
• Primary location: Gateway

Contract

• 13 weeks
• Travel assignment

Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• May accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday

Float Scope

• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus
• May also float to Deaconess Henderson (KY)
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible

Required Qualifications

• Current active compact license
• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• NIHSS
• 2 years RN experience
• 1 full year of stepdown experience
• 1 travel assignment
• Trauma level II experience
• Recent EPIC experience
• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• Ability to pass tele tests
• Initiate and titrate drips, including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, and Insulin
• Post surgical assessment and care
• NIHSS and neuro assessments
• Dysphagia screen

Preferred Qualifications

• Stable home vents
• PleurX drain/pericardial drains
• Lumber drains
• VP shunts
• Narcan drips
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Unit Details

• 16 beds
• Day ratio: 1:3-4
• Night ratio: 1:3-4
• M/S ratio: 1:5
• CN patient assignment ratio: 1:2

Additional Notes

• No local candidates within 40 miles
• Clinical interview
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting of students and new hires
• Navy blue scrubs
• No competing health systems or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
