Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
Prior travel experience required
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience with Epic

Schedule Expectations

3 of 4 holidays
6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
No blocked scheduling
All requested time off must be submitted before assignment confirmation

Clinical Focus

Adult neuro/PCU care including acute stroke, post-neurosurgical care, seizure management, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre, encephalopathy, brain tumor, complex neuro-spine surgery, SAH/SDH, laminectomies, and transverse myelitis

Key Skills Used on the Unit

NIHSS
Lumbar puncture assistance
Arterial lines
Central lines
Tracheotomy care
Lumbar drains
IV starts
Peripheral lab draws
Arterial blood draws
IV drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin
Cardiac monitoring

Additional Notes

1:4 to 1:6 patient ratio depending on acuity
80-mile local radius rule
EPIC experience and travel experience are preferred
