Job Description

• Role: Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Responsibilities include circulating and scrub nurse duties in the OR:

  • Circulating Nurse: Manage overall nursing care in the OR, maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Scrub Nurse: Prepare the sterile field, surgical equipment, and supplies; assist surgeons by passing instruments and managing specimens; perform counts of sponges and supplies with circulating nurse to prevent retained objects.
• Patient Population: Cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients.
• Procedures involved:

  • Cardiac surgery: CABG, valve repair/replacement (including minimally invasive, robotic, TAVR), LVAD placement.
  • Vascular surgery: Open and endovascular aneurysm repair, peripheral vascular procedures, carotid stenting, angioplasty, amputations.
  • Thoracic surgery: Open thoracotomy, VATS, esophageal/hernia repairs, bronchoscopy, esophagoscopy, robotics.
• Bed Count: 7 CVOR suites
• Staffing Ratio: 1:1 RN-to-patient

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Information

• 80-mile radius rule applies
• 40 hours per week schedule
• Will circulate during procedures

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR nurses comfortable with complex cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases, and who are prepared for call responsibilities.
