Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a caring, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely using pharmacology knowledge.
• Manage productivity and resource utilization including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning for new employees and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
• Participate in Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6 months to 3 years of Nursing (RN) experience (higher value used: 3 years).
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Organizational skills including planning and time management.
• Problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to quality, reliability, safety, and risk management.

Preferred:

• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Education & Licensure

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• CCRN certification.
• Relevant unit-specific certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required.
