Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab provides specialized nursing care using knowledge from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Care is culturally based and age-specific, following the American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
The EP Lab includes 5 procedure rooms staffed by RNs with critical care backgrounds and radiology technicians. Procedures include permanent pacemaker implants, implantable defibrillators, implantable loop recorders, ablations for various arrhythmias, left atrial appendage occlusions, device extractions, tilt table studies, and autonomic disorder testing. The unit participates in research studies related to arrhythmia treatments.
Staff care for patients at all levels, including ICU patients, ventricular assist device (VAD) patients, and post-surgery patients. The environment is fast-paced and team-based, collaborating closely with EP physicians, anesthesia, and ancillary departments to ensure high-quality patient outcomes and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Electrophysiology Lab experience (minimum 1 year within the last year)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
