Unit Overview
- Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab
- Number of Labs: 3
- Daily Cases: Approximately 15
- Equipment: GE X-ray system
- Documentation Systems: Maclab, Meditech
- Scheduling: 6-8 call days per month, including at least 1 weekend
- Dress Code: Scrubs provided
Required Qualifications
- Certifications: Must have one of the following:
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- CVT (Cardiovascular Technologist)
- Additional Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), Cath Lab Tech Certification
- Experience: Prior Cath Lab experience required
- Advanced Skills: Knowledge of emergency medications
Procedures Performed
- Left Heart Catheterization (LHC)
- Right and Left Heart Catheterization (RLHC)
- Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Pacemaker (PPM)
- Impella device support
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
- Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) closure
- Cardiomems implantation
- Peripheral interventions
Call and Staffing Requirements
- Cath Lab call team consists of RN, RCIS, CVT, and Cardiologists
- 3 cath lab team members are on call 24/7 on a rotational basis
- Call team members must respond within 5 minutes of notification and arrive at the facility within 30 minutes
- Staff must be reachable by phone at all times and notify operator of any contact changes
- Call coverage must be arranged by the staff member if unable to work their scheduled call
