Work Schedule

• Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM (night shift)
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours included
• No call requirements

Unit and Patient Population

• Unit: Obstetrics (OB) 3rd floor, including Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Nursery
• Level 3 OB trauma designation
• Patient population: Obstetrics patients, including newborn nursery care
• OB unit typically has low volume with fewer than 15 deliveries per month
• Number of beds: 3 L&D, 9 OB, 14 Nursery, 3 Intermediate Nursery
• Patient ratios follow A1 Guidelines

Job Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery and Nursery units
• Must be able to float to Nursery and Post-Partum units if census requires
• Care includes OB delivery and newborn nursery care

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• STABLE certification for nursery care

• Electronic Health Record system used: Meditech
• Equipment: General OB unit equipment
• Must be comfortable working in a Level 3 OB unit environment
• Personality fit: Adaptable to low volume OB unit and able to float between units as needed
